The Uganda National Agricultural Extension Week (UG-NAEW) 2023

Event dates: 23-26 May 2023; Venue: Kabira Country Club, Bukoto Kampala

The event was attended by over 400 participants (both physically and virtually) from 44 districts in Uganda, and beyond.

Day 1: Opening remarks, Keynote speech, thematic presentations, and dialogue on the status of agricultural extension in the country

Day 2: Parallel thematic presentations and side events

Parallel presentations on thematic areas:

  • Agricultural Extension and Advisory Services (AEAS) interventions and support mechanisms for addressing resilience and competitiveness
  • Leveraging on and strengthening public programmes and projects.
  • Viable business development and support services for farmers and other users of AEAS services.
  • Women and youth engagement and opportunities in the agricultural value chain as actors and beneficiaries.
  • Digitalized AEAS in agriculture as a driver for agricultural growth

Side events: Privatization of extension service delivery, Scaling business development, and Farmer Field School

Day 3: Field visits and Cultural dinner

  • Kyakuwa farm: a one stop centre for dairy and innovative technologies in urban farming technologies;
  • Mityana dairy farm: for high value crops such as hot pepper and dairy production.
  • Kayunga District Farmers Association:. Value addition of many agricultural products especially pineapples .
  • CURAD: Value addition of various agricultural products.
