The Uganda Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services (UFAAS) with the support of the African Forum for Agricultural Advisory services (AFAAS) has organized some of its members to exhibit various resilient Agricultural Extension and Advisory Services (AEAS) innovations, models and methodologies at Uganda’s 28th National Agricultural Show, 2022. The show is organized by the Uganda National Farmers Federation(UNFFE) in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) under the theme: “Fostering resilient commercial Agriculture for Agro Industrialization and wealth creation”. From UFAAS, the co-exhibitors will showcase innovations that facilitate the performance of men and women farmers and other agricultural value chain actors while mitigating and/or adapting to climate change and other natural calamities.

The show will take place on 5th-14th August, 2022 at the National Agricultural show grounds in Jinja, Eastern Uganda. The AFAAS-UFAAS tent will include AFAAS, UFAAS, Farmer Field Schools, as well as nine UFAAS member organizations namely: Farm Radio International, m-omulimisa, Farmers media, Zirobwe Agaliawamu Agribusiness Training Association (ZAABTA), Learn Enterprises, Rubanga Cooperative Society, Camkwoki Grassroot Initiative for Development Limited, and Kyambogo University.

The purpose of the co-exhibition is to showcase resilient AEAS innovation/models and highlight how they enhance agro industrialization and wealth creation. This will be done through, daily exhibitions and trainings and staging the world café that will create a forum for discussing agricultural extension innovations that enable farmers and other value chain beneficiaries increase production to levels required for agroindustry, while adapting and/or mitigating effects of natural disasters like climate change and pests and others

The specific objectives of the participating in the show are to:

  1. Exhibit resilient-oriented AEAS innovations/ models by the co-exhibitors at the UFAAS stall.
  2. Discuss the challenges brought by climate change and other calamities that affect the efforts of farmers and other beneficiaries towards industrialization and wealth creation; including the opportunities available for adaptation and mitigation
  3. Identify other resilient-oriented AEAS innovations/ models that support farmer-led agro industrialization .and the different extension innovations they use

The expected outputs include increased awareness about the role of extension in resilient Agricultural Extension and Advisory services (AEAS) towards  agro industrialization and wealth creation among others. In addition, the exhibitors will be profiled and information will be disseminated through various media.
