Mayambala Godfrey

Godfrey is an agribusiness practitioner and farmer institutional development specialist, with over 13 years of managing a model farmer cooperative (with a strong business arm) in Uganda (Zirobwe Agali-awamu Agribusiness Training Association –ZAABTA). As a centre manager for ZAABTA, Godfrey has gained experience in running sustainable farmer institutions through piloting of different business models; provision of technical assistance to small holder farmers; agricultural markets development, and private sector engagement. Godfrey also believes in empowering youths to drive current and future agricultural sector development.
Because of his hands–on skills and experience in managing sustainable farmer cooperative, Godfrey has consulted for Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), Kilimo Trust, JICA, Sasakawa Africa Association, and Farm Africa to equip farmer cooperative leaders across Uganda with skills to run cooperatives as business entities. Furthermore, Godfrey was a national trainer for village agent model with the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries in partnership with USAID. He is also an associate trainer with Recast Agrisystems Ltd as a farmer institution development specialist.
Godfrey is also a co-founder and the chairman of the Network of producers and Exporters Uganda (NePEU), an association that brings together over 35 agri-SMEs (especially cooperatives) aspiring to tap into national and cross border trade for grains and pulses. Lastly, Godfrey is Ambassador for Sasakawa Africa Association one stop centre model.
Godfrey holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) from Makerere University, and an agribusiness specialist and agro-processor by experience.
Godfrey has been a member of UFAAS since 2011.
