Introduction

Uganda Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services (UFAAS) the country chapter of the African Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services (AFAAS), together with partners and stakeholders in AEAS, under the guidance of the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, is organizing the 6th National Agricultural Extension Week in Uganda (UG-NAEW2025) is is planned to take place from 20th -24th April 2026, at a Silver Springs Hotel, Bugolobi Kampala. The theme is: “Unlocking Uganda’s Agricultural Potential: Multi-actor supported Agricultural Extension and Advisory services for Inclusive, Resilient, Market-Oriented, Industrialized and digitized Agri-Food-systems.”  The event is expected  bring together over 500 different actors and stakeholders to deliberate on AEAS issues critical to agricultural development in Uganda and Africa at large.  Hence the need for social media handlers.

Purpose of the Assignment

The Social Media Volunteers will design and implement a digital communication campaign to promote, document, and sustain engagement around the UGNAEW2026, before, during, and after the event.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Event Phase
  • Familiarize with the UGNAEW2026 event concept note and develop a comprehensive social media strategy and content calendar.
  • Review of previous report and videos to capture content -contextual
  • Familiarize with other organizing committee team to share process highlights of progress of work
  • Support the graphic designer in the create branded digital promotional materials (speaker announcements, countdown posts, partner spotlights, thematic highlights).
  • Manage the event hashtags #AgricExtUg2026 #UGNAEW2026 and digital campaign messaging.
  • Coordinate with speakers and partners to amplify visibility.
  • Produce short promotional videos and reels
During the Event (20-24 April, 2026)
  • Provide real-time social media coverage across UFAAS and platforms (X/Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp)- and cross-post on various pages
  • Post session highlights, key quotes, photos, and short videos.
  • Live-tweet and provide interactive online engagement.
  • On site engagement of participants
  • Respond to online engagement and inquiries from social media.
  • Capture analytics on reach, impressions, and engagement.
  • Work closely with photographers and videographers for timely content production.
Post-Event Phase
  • Develop highlight digital recap content.
  • Share key takeaways, speaker quotes, and appreciation posts.
  • Promote event reports and policy briefs.
  • Produce a comprehensive social media performance and analytics report. 
Qualification and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural extension, Communications, Journalism, Digital Media, or related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of proven experience managing professional social media platforms.
  • Social media following of at least 300 followers
  • Demonstrated experience covering conferences, national events, or policy forums.
  • Strong graphic design and video editing skills are an added advantage.
  • Excellent writing and storytelling skills.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and high-pressure environments.
  • Knowledge of agricultural development and extension systems is an added advantage.
