Profiles of the UFAAS Board Members (2019-2021)

 

Henry Nsereko Henry Nsereko, Chairperson Mr Nsereko is the Chairperson of the Uganda Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services (UFAAS). He leads the Strategic direction of the Forum with support from the Board and Secretariat.

Beyond UFAAS, Mr Nsereko is Executive Director of Volunteer Efforts for development Concerns (VEDCO) a Ugandan national NGO whose focus is on small holder farmers, women, youth and people in need like refugees with the aim of improving their livelihoods. His experience with agricultural extension spans over 10 years in various capacities in the NGO landscape. (Email: znserekoh@yahoo.com )  

Adeline headshot Adeline Rwashana Muheebwa, Vice Chairperson Ms Adeline Rwashana Muheebwa is a Gender and Development Consultant. She is innovative, results oriented and a strategic practitioner with a Master of Science and Post Graduate Diploma in Development Management, Milton Keynes Open University, UK.  Adeline has a Bachelor of Science, Agriculture Economics (Hons), Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda and is a bronze medal winner for the First ever “Create and Cook with Tooke Flour” competition.  

Adeline is a Trainer for African Women in Agricultural Research for Development (AWARD) in Gender Responsive Agricultural Research and Development (GRARD). Her current consultancy is with National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS) as a Technical Assistant to the Executive Director and in charge of Board Affairs.  Consultancies previously offered include: the assessment of Agricultural Extension and Advisory Services (AEAS) within the context of Agricultural Innovation System (AIS) using the FAO Methodology, selection of the promising Sustainable Land Management (SLM) innovations using the WOCAT Decision Support Methodology and provision of technical support on Gender and Targeting as an IFAD Consultant.  Adeline has previously designed a training curriculum for a USAID PSDAG project on Gender and Social Inclusion in Rwanda; Trainers’ Manual on Mainstreaming Gender within the Agricultural Value Chain in Rwanda developed for the UN Women as well as a certificate course on Gender Responsive Researchers Equipped for Agricultural Transformation (GREAT).  Adeline has also been engaged in the development of a Gender and Youth Strategy for the Integrated Seed Sector Development (ISSD) in Uganda.  Adeline’s passion is to inspire individuals especially women and youths to discover their purpose, restore their dignity and creatively use their potential for a fulfilling livelihood. (Email: ademuheebwa@gmail.com )

Titus headshot Titus Kisauzi, Secretary General

Titus Kisauzi is an Agricultural Innovation Specialist with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture and a Master’s Degree in Agricultural Extension Education. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Agricultural and Rural Innovation at Makerere University, Kampala. He has vast knowledge and experience of over 10 years in both public and market-oriented extension services. Titus has supported several research projects and consultancies, and is passionate about developing and implementing innovative agricultural service delivery approaches. He is a proud founder of AgroBasics (U) Ltd, an Agri-food logistics company offering innovative agribusiness and farm support services through socially responsible agribusiness. He has recently served at the Uganda Forum for Agricultural Services (UFAAS) as a Vice Secretary to the Board and is currently the Secretary General of the Forum. During this time, he has contributed towards the development of the UFAAS Strategic Plan 2018-22 and participated in several assignments with the Forum such as development and promotion of the professionalization documents for extension service actors in Uganda. (Email: tkisauzi@yahoo.com )  

board u-4 Elizabeth (2)_0.png  Elizabeth Asiimwe, Deputy Secretary General Elizabeth is an agricultural extension professional with close to 10 years of experience working in a range of agricultural fields. Currently, she works at Makerere University’s College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences as the administrator for the Gender-responsive Researchers Equipped for Agricultural Transformation (GREAT) project. In addition, she is a part-time Assistant lecturer in the Institute of Open, Distance and e-Learning under the College of Education and External Studies where she teaches in-service secondary school teachers of agriculture taking the Bachelor of Education (External) programme. 

Previously, Elizabeth worked at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture Uganda on the Policy Action for sustainable intensification of Cropping systems (PASIC) project where she executed research and communication roles. Her experience ranges from promotion of agricultural inputs/agribusiness in the private sector, research and communication work at the International agricultural development Organizations, to management of projects in academia settings and beyond.  As the Deputy Secretary General on the UFAAS board, Elizabeth brings her organization, detail-oriented, and communication skills to enhance the activities of the Forum. Her research/work interests in agriculture include gender, ICTS, communication, gender, human nutrition and adult learning. She holds a Bachelor of Vocational Studies in agriculture with Education from Kyambogo University, a Masters of Science degree in Agricultural Extension Education from Makerere University, and a Post-graduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management from the Uganda Management Institute. board u-6 Beatrice.jpg.png Beatrice Namusoke Luzobe, Chief Executive Officer (Ex-Officio) Beatrice N. Luzobe is an agriculture, Management and gender specialist and consultant. She is also a rabbitry reference point for rabbitry in Uganda.  She is a professional with a first degree in Agriculture (Animal Science) a Masters in Management, Post graduate Diploma in Business and Certificate in Gender. In her professional development journey, she also holds several certificates in Project Management, Planning, monitoring and Evaluation, Leadership for change, Integrated Community development, Participatory tools, Entrepreneurship, organizational Capacity Assessment, innovation platforms management, and more.

She has been a practitioner in various fields including: Agricultural Extension/ Rural Advisory Services; Programme Management and coordination; Mainstreaming of cross-cutting issues of gender, nutrition, environmental conservation within agriculture; Farmers Institutions Development; Enterprise Development and Entrepreneurship; and Partnership development. She has a good understanding of the emerging paradigms and reforms in Agricultural Extension and Advisory Services (AEAS) under the CAADP agenda.  She is good at documentation with appropriate computer skills. She is transparent, accountable, faithful, committed, self-motivated, capable and used to working for long hours, under minimum supervision, in the office, field and outside the country. Since graduation, Beatrice has worked with various national and international organizations both at technical and management positions These include Uganda Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services-UFAAS (UFAAS), where she is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer/ Focal Person. While in UFAAS she also stood in as the Project Coordinator for the Project on Integrating Gender and Nutrition within Agricultural extension Services (INGENAES). She is also the Managing Director/ consultant for Learn Enterprises Limited. Before she had worked with: Sasakawa Global 2000 Agricultural Project (2002 – October 2010) as Program Specialist -Farmers Institutions Capacity Building and Gender and a Program Coordinator –Public-Private Partnerships and Market Access; Winrock International Institute For Agricultural Development (1995 – 2001) as a Country Co-ordinator and Gender / Field Operations Specialist; Compassion International  as  a Project Coordinator for a Nutrition programme and; African Rural Outreach And Development (AROD) (1987 – 1989) as an Agricultural Extension staff, Good interpersonal skills like effective communication, leadership, team building. She has participated in numerous assignments and/or consultancies, both as an individual or under the above organizations she has worked with. These have been mainly focused on: Coordination, Programming, Training, Development of the Strategic documents/ materials (like plans, proposals and manuals), facilitation and Rapporteuring, Gender Mainstreaming, Farmer Institutions Capacity Development and Translation of agricultural materials into Luganda (local language). These have been supported and/or funded by some of the key organizations, agencies and Government Ministries like: the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industries and Fisheries (MAAIF in Uganda), United States Agency for International Development (USAID), International Fund For Agricultural Development (IFAD), European Union (EU), World Bank, Africa Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services (AFAAS), Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), World Food Programme (WFP) and Sasakawa Africa Association (SAA). In addition, Beatrice is a practicing commercial and model farmer of rabbits and trees; a member of:  the Association of Professional Women in Agriculture and Environment (AUPWAE); the Uganda Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services (UFAAS); and Mukono Tree Farmers Association (MTFA). Patience B. Rwamigisa is the Head of the Department of Agricultural Extension and Skills Management in the Directorate of Agricultural Extension Services, at the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry Fisheries of the Republic of Uganda since 2016. He holds a PhD in Agricultural Extension from Makerere University and his expertise is largely in agricultural extension reforms and governance of Agricultural institutions. He possesses 25 years of experience in agricultural extension service delivery and he provided technical leadership in reform of agricultural extension services in Uganda. He has in the past served as an adjunct lecturer at the School of Veterinary Medicine and also as guest lecturer at the School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Makerere University. Currently, he works with Sembabule District Local Government as the District Production and Marketing officer (DPMO). Dr Kawooya holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Medicine from Makerere University, a Master of Science degree in Livestock Development Economics from the same University and a Post-Graduate Diploma from Kampala University. board u-10 Ssenyonga John_0.jpg John Ssenyonga, Civil Society John Ssenyonga is development economist with background in development economics, agribusiness, and project management. He holds a Master of Science in Agribusiness Management from Makerere University and a Bachelor of Social Sciences (Economics) from Makerere University. He’s currently pursuing a master’s in management from Uganda Management Institute. He has 12 years experience in agribusiness and rural development with expertise in economic analysis, program management and business development. He’s a Senior Program Manager at Heifer International Uganda leading the program design and implementation for the country office. John has managed market development programs in Uganda in the field of horticulture, dairy, oil seeds, and aquaculture supporting the adoption more robust systemic, market-based approaches in development to ensure greater impact at scale, with a strong focus on biodiversity conservation and renewable energy. He has worked at operational and strategic level positions with International organizations particularly Heifer International, Swiss Foundation for Technical Cooperation and Child-Fund International. Currently, Ambrose works as a Business Coach with Agribusiness impact initiative Associates, Bishop Stuart University Agribusiness Incubation Hub, and as an Agribusiness Associate Consultant with Excel Hort Consult Agribusiness Incubator. Ambrose has extensive knowledge and expertise in agribusiness incubation and business development for agribusiness value chains. board u-13 Bob.jpg_0.png Boby Ogwang, Youth Mr Boby holds a Diploma in Crop Production and Management from Bukalasa Agricultural College and a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture, majoring in rural innovations and knowledge extension from Makerere University, Kampala– Uganda. He is the Co-Founder/Chief Executive Officer of Marula Creative Consultancy and also Co-Founder/President/COO of Marula Agribusiness Ltd. Boby has strong grounding in business and program administration and management and experience in working on international projects and multi-stakeholder collaborations. He is currently interested in developing sustainable and profitable social business models, with a keen focus on integrating rural youth into the agricultural value chains. As the youth representative on the UFAAS board, Boby is engaging youth both in the rural areas and institutions of learning to take up innovative agricultural initiatives as well as encouraging them to join the forum to network with key players in the agricultural innovation and extension field. He holds a Bachelor of Environmental Management from Makerere University, Diploma in Journalism – UMCAT, Masters of sciences in Journalism – Nkumba university, Mr Musimami has also undertaken various short courses to strengthen and improve his career both national and continentally. The latter is the 2014 African Union Awardee for best Agriculture Journalist – CAADP PP – Durban South Africa. Grace is a Communication and Media Partner with the Department of Rural Economy at the African Union Commission and has formally conducted a number of consultancies with COMESA and its sister agency ACTESA. Having a science background, and having a 17-year science and Agriculture reporting experience, Grace has gained vast knowledge in understanding both rural and urban communication dynamics. He has filmed farmers and farmer experiences throughout Africa and further interviewed key policymakers to increase the linkage and reduce the gap between the two. Mr. Musimami being a team leader is the President of the Agricultural Journalists Association of Uganda (AJAU). He is also the Secretary-General for the Network for Agricultural Journalists in Eastern and Southern Africa, a board member at Uganda National Farmers Federation and Executive Secretary at the Alliance for Farmer Development Uganda (AFAD). He has vast experience in agriculture communication and documentation which makes him an appropriate team leader in implementing farmer related activities. He has worked as the training and agricultural advisory services director at UNFFE since 2015 where he has successfully implemented a number of projects such as; the anti-counterfeit agricultural inputs campaign project, the Market led User owned ICT4 Agric. Information Services (MUIIS) project where more than 250,000 farmers were successfully profiled in a bid to digitalize the agricultural extension and farmers; the commercial integrated farming initiative” and the “Collective empowerment of women Cooperatives in Lakes state – South Sudan where more than 3600 women were helped to form and register as cooperative groups. Perez holds a MS in Management, concentrating on project management obtained from Walden University, USA, a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi, and a National Diploma in Agriculture from Bukalasa Agricultural College.
